HTML checkboxes and :checkedīattleship involves a lot of checking to see whether a field contains a ship or not, so we’re going to use a boatload of checkboxes. Theyll learn how to implement Agile using Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe® (Scaled Agile Framework) as well as how Agile differs from waterfall product management. Students then need to take it in turns choosing a coordinate to see if they have hit their partner’s battleship. They can be horizontal or vertical and must be four coordinates long. Type the questions into the Type review question here. Come up with 32 review questions and answers. Put students in pairs and ask them to draw 4 battleships on their page. Battleship PowerPoint Game Template © 2012 This game plays just like the popular board game, Battleship®. In order to get the game mechanics working, we need some interactive elements. Use this template to teach people who are new to Agile the basics of the methodology and how your team practices it. A template to help consolidate students' understanding of coordinates. This is what all the code from here on is going to be written in. Licensed under the terms of the Creative Commons. I could tell right away there was going to be a lot of repetitive HTML and very long CSS selectors coming, so I set up Pug to compile HTML and Less to compile CSS. This is a website that publishes open access articles distributed under the Creative Commons License. Oh, you wanna learn how it works? Let’s dig in. What better project to attempt than a game? Battleship seemed like a good challenge and a step up from the CSS games I’ve seen so far because it has the complexity of multiple areas that have to interact with two players. Holding down shift while using the arrow keys allows the student to nudge the ship one pixel at a time to obtain precise placement. The dots on the ships should align with the grid. On slide 5 each student places their ships. Student pair up each having their own device. This is an experiment to see how far into an interactive experience I can get using only CSS. Attach the template in Google Classroom as Create a copy for each student.

Team Sonic Racing is a Sonic the Hedgehog-themed kart racing game featuring single-player and multiplayer modes. Many critics also considered it inferior to the Sega-All Stars games.Īn example of gameplay in Team Sonic Racing, depicting Metal Sonic in Planet Wisp, a Sonic Colors-themed stage Team Sonic Racing received mixed reviews its team-based gameplay, track designs, and music were praised, but the story mode and voice acting were criticized. The game was later re-released on Amazon Luna in March 2021. A simplified version for iOS developed by Hardlight, Sonic Racing, was released via Apple Arcade in September 2019. The game was released for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows in May 2019. Its marketing campaign included appearances at trade shows, a one-shot comic from IDW Publishing, and a two-part animated series. Team Sonic Racing 's existence came to light when a Sumo Digital memo leaked in January 2018, with Sega confirming it the following May. Musician Jun Senoue, who had not contributed to a major Sonic game since Generations (2011), composed the soundtrack. They aimed to make the game stand out compared to other racing games and developed it using a modified version of the All-Stars game engine. Unlike Sumo Digital's previous racing games, Team Sonic Racing only features Sonic characters, as the team wanted to expand the series' world and character roster. Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka conceived the cooperative gameplay, and Sumo Digital used the team-based Sonic Heroes (2003) as a point of reference. Sumo Digital, which had previously worked on Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing (2010) and Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (2012), developed Team Sonic Racing. Game modes include competing to earn points, time trials, customizing the racing rules, and a story-driven tutorial campaign. Team Sonic Racing differs from traditional kart racers because of its focus on cooperative gameplay, similar to the kind featured in Splatoon (2015) and Overwatch (2016)-players are part of a team of racers and win races through efficiency rather than speed. Gameplay is from a third-person perspective, with players performing tricks, drifting, and collecting power-ups. Controlling one of 15 characters from the series' cast, players compete in races using sports cars. Team Sonic Racing is a 2019 kart racing game and a spin-off from Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog series. Everything works well, right down to the controls for the game. I didn’t find anything too frustrating to complete. I’ve had a great fun time giving my brain a workout while playing Eyes of Ara and have enjoyed the puzzles. The sound effects and music also add to the atmosphere of the old abandoned castle theme. Graphically Eyes of Ara is a delight for the eyes, from the lighting effects as the Eyes of Ara fly around before your eyes, right down to the puff of dust that rises up from any item you disturb in the environment. Hard to believe the game is developed by one guy! Having access to the letters or documents you find throughout your journey around the castle is a nice touch as you can refresh your memory at any time should you need to. The puzzles increase in difficulty too.Īny letters, documents or items you read or collect are stored in your inventory and are easily accessible by a touch of a finger. The game then starts to open up with larger rooms to explore, more documents and letters to discover and read. The first few rooms and puzzles in the castle are in fact a short tutorial to introduce the player to the games’ controls and the games’ environment and how to navigate it. Once you move through those rooms you arrive in the large castle hall. The controls are intuitive and work very well. By tapping the screen you move to the door or near an object and looking around is done by swiping the screen. Overall, there’s a great mix of puzzles for the player.Įyes of Ara has full touchscreen control in handheld mode. However, The Eyes of Ara does have its share of puzzles that do require a lot more thought processes to complete. Some of the puzzles are pretty easy and don’t require much thought to complete. There are also puzzles that you manipulate directly such as finding a handle to fit a lever and then moving it. These range from logic puzzles to ‘collect-and-use-the-appropriate-inventory-item’ kind of puzzle. The environment in the castle also adds to the sense of mystery you feel as you explore. The storyline is nothing unique but I must say, the way it unfolds by means of the puzzles is cool. His documents reveal his efforts to understand the strange Eyes. Plus, interacting with the environment gives you extra insights as well.Īs the story unfolds it becomes apparent that the last person to occupy the castle was a researcher and his family. Reading documents scattered around the castle reveals information about the mysterious eyes and the castles previous occupants. As you navigate your way through the castle the narrative unfolds. The game doesn’t present the entire story before setting out as the assigned engineer. It’s only logical then that you spend the entirety of your time playing The Eyes of Ara within the castle. Ultimately, he has to shut the signal down! Sleuthing in the castleĪs the player it’s you who takes on the role of the engineer who is sent to investigate the radio signal emitting from the castle. An engineer is sent to the castle to investigate the signal and discover its source. It interferes with over-the-air communications in the surrounding area. Until lately that is….Ī mysterious radio signal has begun broadcasting from within the castle. Ever since the storm the castle has remained empty and undisturbed. Years later a horrible storm ravages the island shore and the folk from the local village on the mainland watch as the lights come alive again, flying and floating around the castle. Suddenly the lights disappear, along with the young family and the castles’ owner. One night the activity of the mysterious lights intensifies. Local folklore tells stories of shipments of strange machinery and scientific equipment arriving at the castle in the dark of night and mysterious lights that floated and swirled around the castle.Ī young family, relatives of the castle owner, visit the castle and stay for a while. Mystery: mysterious lights and a radio signalĪn old abandoned castle sits on a small island of the Scottish coast, once belonging to a wealthy and reclusive man. This can be helpful to make sure that you get all of the hair, but it seems that the terminology can be somewhat confusing for some consumers. It is a light that emits from the head to illuminate the area being treated. This hair remover comes with what the manufacturer describes as Sensa-Light technology. It works quickly and it removes hair comfortably, so most women should be satisfied with the results. You simply turn it on, place the head against your skin and the machine starts removing the hair. This device is very easy to use and it can work on just about any part of your body. This system will remove the hair much easier than many of the competing machines and the blade design should reduce the level of irritation that can come with shaving. The Yes from Finishing Touch is a well-designed hair removal device that uses micro-oscillating blades to remove the hair.
In theory, what is not cool about an ancient virus that has been turning men into demons since the Knights Templar days? The monsters are built up well. The execution works better when left up to the imagination. They sound a lot better in the description. The monsters in The Cave are serviceable plot devices at best. But my personal favorite on his resume must be the entry for Under Siege 2: Dark Territory, a very fine ’90s movie if you ask me. That guy has been in everything from Girls Trip to Ladder 49. The same can be said for Morris Chestnut. Cole Hauser is no stranger to B movies, but he is also a fine supporting cast member in a major blockbuster. The Cave stars Pitch Black’s Cole Hauser, and Boyz n the Hood star Morris Chestnut. Little do they know of the horrors that await them inside the belly of the monastery. The main story kicks in once a new group of cave explorers made up of our main cast decide to breach the cave again. They also are quick to figure out that the explosives used to breach the monastery have triggered a landslide trapping the men inside. That is until some local plunderers come along to loot the cave.Īfter breaching the cave, they see some cave art depicting demons battling nights within the monastery. A landslide buries the monastery for centuries. The StoryĪccording to the monologue opening the film, there was once a monastery somewhere in an ancient Carpathian mountain region. Then you know the world is worst off without a sequel to The Cave. But if you happen to be a real homegrown honest to god B movie-loving cinephile, which I know you are because you’re reading this. If you are in the majority, then you won’t be missing anything. So anyone, like myself holding out hopes for a sequel’s hopes may be dashed against the rocks. As a result, Hunt has never directed a movie since then. Made on a budget of $33 million, The Cave’s opening weekend gross in the United States was a paltry $6.1 million. Produced by Lakeshore Entertainment in 2005. Unfortunately for Hunt, The Cave was not received so well. There is a definite linear path for Bruce Hunt to go from the director of second unit to full-on director of The Cave. I can’t find out what specifically, but his online bio does confirm it was something. He also worked doing something on Dark City. His work prior to The Cave consisted of directing second unit on The Matrix franchise. This week’s twenty-fourth entry is the 2005 action horror movie The Cave. One more week and we hit twenty-five on the 50 B Movies To See Before You Die list. Yes, these are exciting times indeed my fanatical friends. For the next 49 weeks, I will introduce and recommend a B movie for your viewing pleasure. So I compiled a list of 50 B movies you must see before you die. Besides they’ve been around just as long as the movie industry.īelieve it or not, chances are there’s a B movie for you. There’s something comforting about that I think. Out of the many good films you’ve seen, I bet you can talk with more vigor about the worst ones you’ve seen. You’ll often scratch your head trying to work out the plot. If you’re fortunate it may be so bad that it’s good. You know what you’re about to watch is bad. Why do we love B movies? I think B movies are comforting. Nope, this is Sharknado. You’re aware of the hallmarks, right? B-movies often reek of amateur flair. Some but not all of the hallmarks of a B movie include scripts that read like they were written by a room full of eighth-graders, poor visual effects, cringe-inducing dialogue, low budget production design, and zany plot contrivances. This week on the B movie docket is The Caveī movies are the glue stuck in between all the other genres, oftentimes refusing to conform to any particular genre presets. Specific tasks within the world require specific items and it can get a little frustrating when you’re unable to find anything, despite being in the correct area. Having said that, there are moments where the pacing grinds to a halt as you’re trying to search for certain objects. The game does a good job of gradually introducing you to new recipes as you progress without overwhelming you. Should you come across any potential recipes, these will automatically be added to your Grimoire so you can track the required ingredients. Using a cursor, you can hover over highlighted items or similar points of interest, and this will then give you an immediate breakdown of an item’s general properties or purpose. As you navigate the environment, you can tap ‘Y’ at any point to effectively pause the action and observe your immediate surroundings. This is where the ‘Witch Sense’ comes into play. Once you’ve gathered the required ingredients, you simply hold down ‘A” to craft your item easy! Of course, learning recipes and finding the ingredients is a bit more tricky. Navigating this is pleasantly intuitive, allowing you to tab through the ingredients for each recipe to discover their general location. Right from the start, inside your little hut, the game immediately sets your expectations that you’re going to be spending the vast majority of your time crafting by introducing the Grimoire, a handy tool that displays all of your crafting recipes along with the ingredients necessary to make the desired object. We perhaps would have liked to have seen some events play out in real-time, but the narration is at least a reasonable alternative. For example, lines like “ you step outside into a humid marsh”, or “ you boot the goat through the front door” are fairly commonplace and give a bit more context around your actions. Interestingly, interspersed within the segments of dialogue are excerpts of narration, similar to text-based RPGs. It's utterly unmissable, and soon it'll be on more platforms than ever, so you'll have absolutely no excuse not to play it.The story is well-written for the most part, with plenty of interesting characters dotted around the various environments. I got most of the gushing praise out of my system last year, so I'll stop here. Just as it's deeply satisfying to master its many weapons and divine magics, it's a true treat to get to know its cast of loveable and irresponsibly beautiful characters. Through masterfully layered exposition and upgrades, it turns every run and every death into an invigorating shot of progression and characterization. The latest from Bastion and Transistor creator Supergiant Games, Hades transforms Greek mythology into an engrossing third-person dungeon-crawler with the heart of a rogue-like and the soul of a true epic. Hades, our best game of 2020 and the winner of the Critic's Choice award at the 2020 Golden Joysticks, is coming to PS4 and PS5 next week on August 13. One of the most confusing parts when you're first learning git is the concept of the staging environment and how it relates to a commit.Ī commit is a record of what changes you have made since the last time you made a commit. What this basically says is, "Hey, we noticed you created a new file called mnelson.txt, but unless you use the 'git add' command we aren't going to do anything with it." An interlude: The staging environment, the commit, and you Git only saves/manages changes to files that it tracks, so we’ll need to send a command to confirm that yes, we want git to track our new file.Īfter creating the new file, you can use the git status command to see which files git knows exist. But, git won't track the file unless you explicitly tell it to. Once you've added or modified files in a folder containing a git repo, git will notice that the file exists inside the repo. `touch newfile.txt` just creates and saves a blank file named newfile.txt. Go ahead and add a new file to the project, using any text editor you like or running a touch command. To initialize a git repository in the root of the folder, run the git init command: Step 2: Add a new file to the repo For example, if you have a 'projects' folder on your desktop, you'd do something like: To begin, open up a terminal and move to where you want to place the project on your local machine using the cd (change directory) command. If you don't have much experience with the terminal and basic commands, check out this tutorial (If you don’t want/ need a short history lesson, skip to step three.) When creating a new project on your local machine using git, you'll first create a new repository (or often, 'repo', for short). You do not need to use a remote to use git, but it will make sharing your code with others easier. All of these are referred to in git-speak as “remotes”, and all are completely optional. There are many other alternatives to GitHub, such as GitLab, BitBucket, and “host-your-own” solutions such as gogs and gittea. You do not need GitHub to use git, but you cannot use GitHub without using git. Sufficed to say, you’ve been warned.Īdditionally: Just because the museums listed offer free admission doesn’t mean they can’t use your support. Be sure to check their respective websites before visiting. Due to the pandemic, many of those listed now require advanced entry reservations, and many require proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test for entry. In this section I’ll list out L.A.’s museums offering free admission, year-round. But about the admission price, sure, I’m here for you. I don’t control the company you keep, which is sometimes the biggest cost of all. Finally, don’t blame me if your Bumble date goes sour after you mutually agree to a museum freebie based on this list. There is also the issue of travel time, which depending on your location and the time of day, can be a hefty cost unto itself. Specifically, I’m talking about parking, which as in the case of both Getty museums is more than nominal ($20 per vehicle to be exact). Reminder: “free admission” is a term I used advisedly, since there are sometimes costs associated with a visit that fall outside the ticketed entry category. Want to know which museums offer a free day on the second Tuesday of each month? Or the third Thursday? This will help. Lastly, the final bit is a simple bullet list showing which sometimes-free museums are open depending on which week of the month it is.
